This design/build studio is a collaborative project among Mike Eng (RISD Industrial Design '09) and Nick Buehrens (RISD Masters in Architecture '11) to design and implement the new space for Recycle-A-Bike, Providence's do-it-yourself bicycle maintenance and education program, located at The Steel Yard. The organization has been allocated space in the Steel Yard's site to be implemented after they pursue a soil remediation and site renovation. The design challenge is to create and build a structure that maximizes space and storage, has a clear organizational strategy, facilitates optimal usage patterns, and provides flexibility for the various programs offered by Recycle-A-Bike.
